Trader docked for allegedly assaulting man with axe

A 25-year-old trader, Victor Arigbede, was on Monday docked in an  Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting man with an axe during an argument.

The defendant, who resides in Peace Estate in Lagos is charged with conspiracy, grievous harm and assault.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Rapheal Donny, told the court that the offence was committed on Feb. 2 at Liberty Estate, Oyekan Area, Command, Lagos.

Donny said that a fight ensued between the defendant, two others at large and the complainant, Mr Olusegun Ajakaye over payments.

The prosecutor said that the defendant and his other accomplice at large, inflicted a deep cut on the left hand of the complainant with an axe.

The offence, he said, contravened the  provisions of sections 172, 245 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate A. O Odubayo admitted  the defendant to a bail on  N100,000 with two sureties in likesum.

Odubayo adjourned the case until March 27 for mention.(NAN)
