AN Upper Area Court in Jos on Monday sentenced four traders to six months imprisonment each for conspiracy and theft of a company vehicle.

The convicts are Musa Adamu 32, Benjamin Kore 27, Benjamin Joseph 40, and Terdo Tegbenda 30.

The judge, David Damulak, who convicted the four traders after they pleaded guilty to the two-count charge, however, gave them the option of N20,000 fine each.

The judge said the judgment would serve as deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such criminal acts.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported on Nov. 15, 2022 at the Anglo-Jos Police Station by one Onyekwere Churchill of Halogen Security attached to the company.

Gokwat said that the four traders conspired among themselves, stole the vehicle and sold it before they were arrested.

He however said that the vehicle was later retrieved in the course of the investigation.

The prosecution counsel said the offence is punishable under the provisions of sections 333 and 272 of Plateau Penal Code Law.(NAN)
