ANAMBRA State Elder’s Council has expressed appreciation to the federal government for support and contribution toward the befitting funeral accorded to former Vice-President Alex Ekwueme.

The Council also commended the Governors of the South East Zone, especially Anambra State Government for acknowledging the outstanding legacy he left in politics, integrity, public service and patriotism.

The commendation was made after a meeting of the Anambra State Elder’s Council, at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

Reading out the communiqué after the meeting, Emeka Anyaoku, the chairman of the Council, explained that the late elder statesman contributed immensely to the political development of the nation.

Anyaoku, who adjudged Anambra the safest state in Nigeria, called on investors to tap into the opportunity and embrace the philosophy of `Aku luo uno’, which the state government had been promoting.

The elders congratulated Obiano and Nkem Okeke, his deputy, on their overwhelming victory at the gubernatorial elections.
