Mahindra Comviva, a leading financial solution provider, wins two awards at the Global Telecom Business Innovation Awards 2013

MAHINDRA Comviva, the global leader in providing mobile financial solutions, has added two feathers to its cap. The company has won two major awards at the Global Telecom Business Innovation Awards 2013. The awards are for the company’s EcoCash mobile payment services to Econet Zimbabwe, powered by its mobiquity mobile money platform and Managed Music services to Airtel Africa for Hello Tunes. The awards were announced at Global Telecoms Business, GTB, Innovation Summit 2013, held in London, recently. GTB Award recognises innovation which has made a huge difference to the service providers and their consumers.

EcoCash was recognised for delivering financial and payment services to the Zimbabweans – the majority of whom are unbanked and thereby providing a mechanism of organised financial services to reach all segments of the society. Mahindra Comviva’s mobiquitymobile money platform provides EcoCash customers with multi-functional and secure account to receive salaries, initiate international and domestic remittances, buy airtime, make utility bills and merchant payments. Within 14 months of launch, EcoCash has amassed more than two million customers and seven million transactions per month. Currently, an approximate 70,000 customers enroll for the service every month.

 With its Managed Music services, Mahindra Comviva assumes complete responsibility for managing Airtel’s ringback tones business in nine countries, by meeting the entertainment needs of music loving people in Africa. By combining platform and end-to-end services management – from content sourcing to services marketing, Mahindra Comviva has succeeded in uplifting music revenues for Airtel Africa. The Hello Tunes service, powered by Mahindra Comviva’s CRBT solution has witnessed multi-fold increase in subscriber base, revenue and content downloads in the last two years.

Mahindra Comviva is one of the largest music aggregators in the African continent, having collaborated with more than 70 partners, including local and international content providers/copyright bodies/ local artists and production houses in the region.
