Unemployed man in court for allegedly stealing welding machine

A 28- year-old unemployed man, Mohammed Abdullahi, who allegedly stole a welding machine valued at N300,000 on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, whose address is unknown is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing
The Prosecutor, Insp. Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed on June 21 at 106, Iju Road, Ifako Ijaiye, a suburb of Lagos.
Akeem said that the accused and one other person, now at large, jumped through the fence of a welder’s shop, Mr Idowu Julius, and stole his welding machine, valued at N300,000.
“The accused and his accomplice were caught in the night by a vigilance group but the other accused escaped, ‘’ he said.
Akeem said that the accused was handed over to the Police.
The offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Jadesola Adeyemi-Ajayi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adeyemi-Ajayi adjourned the case until July 16 for mention.
