THE National Union of Textile Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN),  has called on Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state to focus more on peace, security, job creation.

El-Rufai was re-elected for a second term in the March 9 governorship and state house of assembly elections in Kaduna.

Mr Issa Aremu, NUTGTWN General Secretary, made the call in a congratulatory message signed by him and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.

He advised the governor-elect to come up with a pan-partisan all inclusive peace initiative to rescue Kaduna from mutually destructive violence.

“Peace process must go hand in hand with sustainable development, which must start with urgent re-industrialisation of Kaduna state and mass employment of the army of youths,’’ he said.

Aremu, who is also a National Executive Council (NEC) member of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), said that the Textile Union would continue to partner with the state government to revive the ailing industries in the state.

He, however, noted that this was especially necessary in the area of the textile industries with a view to creating jobs for the mass of unemployed youths in the state.

“As a private sector union and affiliate of NLC and a critical stakeholder in the development of the state and the country in general, we pledge our support to the governor.

“We also pledge our cooperation in the great task of moving Kaduna State and indeed Nigeria to a greater height, ‘’he added.

Aremu while congratulating Malam El-rufai and his deputy, Mrs Hadiza Balarabe, urged them to form inclusive government with massive participation of women and the youths.

“2019 gubernatorial elections assumed special importance because it took place just after the 2019 International Women Day with the theme: “Balance for Better’’.

“There is the need for conscious women participation in governance if they must overcome the problems of double deprivations at work and in larger society, ‘’he said.

He commended INEC and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful governorship election and called on all contestants to accept the wishes of the good people of Kaduna State as expressed through the ballot. (NAN)
