Uzoma, before her death following a surgery in Abuja on Jan. 6,  was the National Coordinator of Proactive Gender Initiatives (PGI) and the Convener of the Nigerian Civil Society Situation Room.

The minister, in a statement on Sunday, described the deceased as a, “dynamic icon of hope and great crusader for gender justice.

“Her demise at this time has left a big vacuum in our crusade to end Gender-Based Violence not only in Nigeria but the world at large.

“This is indeed a great loss to humanity, especially women and children,” she said.

Tallen, therefore enjoined all Nigerian women and children to commiserate with the family of Uzoma over her demise.

“Esther was truly committed to the cause of promoting equality at all quarters.

” Her distinct voice held sway for women and children, including the Girl-Child. She surely left her foot prints on the sands of time.

“She left an indelible mark in the gender world,” Fallen said.

According to her, the deceased contributed to better the lives of the vulnerable,  including women, girls, indigent, aged, physically challenged, and others in the society. – NAN
