A divorcee, Jamila Yusuf, on Wednesday prayed a Sharia Court I at Magajin Gari, Kaduna State to order her former husband Musliu Adetoro to pay her N30,000 monthly as maintenance allowance for the upkeep of their two-month-old baby.

The defendant told the court that she wanted the father to take full responsibility for his baby.

Earlier Adetoro had filed a case against his wife seeking confirmation of divorce.

He said that he wanted to divorce his wife due to her bad behaviour but waited for her to give birth first.

” Ever since I married Jamila, I have known no peace. She changed completely, revealing some negative behaviours  I did not know before I married her.

“I want the court to bear me witness and confirm that I made three pronouncements of divorce to Jamila,” he said.

The judge Mallam Dahiru Lawal, confirmed the divorce.

Lawal asked how much the complainant could afford as monthly maintenance allowance.

The complainant stated that he can only afford to pay N10,000 monthly which the defendant refused to accept, saying its meagre.

The Judge, therefore, ruled that Adetoro pay Jamila N15,000 as maintenance allowance for their baby. (NAN)
