THE Anambra State Waste Management Agency, (ASWAMA) has released updated rates for Anambra residents to enable them to enjoy better and efficient service delivery in the state.

Mr Mike Ozoemena, the Managing Director of ASWAMA, said this to the News Agency of Nigeria in Awka on Monday.

He said that the slightly adjusted rates were made  to enable the Agency to have enough fund to function effectively.

Ozoemena said that the new rates by the government would provide  enough money to clear refuse from every street in Anambra.

He explained that more waste collection trucks would be procured and the trucks fueled for the work.

He added that waste bins would also be purchased and placed at strategic locations across the state for effective waste collection and management.

Ozoemena said that the new rates were a little increase compared to the previous amounts households were paying the state government initially.

He said  that the new rate was classified according to local governments which could be Rural, Semi-Urban and Urban.

He said  that local governments in the urban category included Awka South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Aguata, Nnewi North, Idemili North and Ogbaru.

He listed  Semi-urban local governments as Njikoka, Idemili-South, Ihiala, Awka North, Oyi, Orumba North, Orumba South, Anaocha, Nnewi South, Dunukofia, and Anambra East.

The ASWAMA  boss said that the rural local governments areas  included Ayamelum, Anambra West and Ekwusigo.(NAN)
