GOV. Godwin Obaseki of Edo, on Friday in Benin, said that his administration was committed to training of world-class health practitioners in the state.
Obaseki stated this shortly after inspecting the ongoing remodeling and refurbishment of the state-owned School of Nursing and Midwifery, which has the capacity to admit 600 students yearly.
“Any healthcare system is based on qualified manpower; you can’t think of healthcare system without thinking of how to train and prepare people who will deliver it.
“For us as government, we are determined to building a school with the standard above the national accreditation requirements, and it is the admission process that will bring ensure training of world-class nurses.
“Any nurse, who can practise here, can do same anywhere in the world. That is the kind of school that we are building,” he said.
The governor said that the school would be officially inaugurated by September, adding that accreditation process was already ongoing.
