A 50-year-old woman, Mary Idowu, was on Tuesday docked before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged breach of peace and threat of violence.

The defendant, whose address was unknown, is standing trial on a two-count charge of breach of peace and threat of violence.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Johnson Okunade, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Oct. 3 at about 10.00a.m at Peace Avenue, Irewumi, in Ado-Ekiti.

Okunade said that the defendant conducted herself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by abusing, cursing and accusing Pastor Olagbuyiro Bamidele of being a ritualist.

He also said that Idowu threatened violence to the complainant.

Okunade said the offences contravened Section 249(d) and 86 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

A defence counsel, Mr Odunayo Okunade, urged the court to grant her bail, promising that she would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, then admitted the defendant to bail of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Adegboye adjourned the case till Nov. 11 for hearing. (NAN)
