THE Kano State Government has empowered over 5,000 youths and women to reduce poverty in Dala local government area.

Those empowered were Waina (local delicacy) sellers, tea vendors, roundabout and traffic points hawkers, motor park petty traders and GSM technicians selected under the Ganduje administration youth empowerment initiated programme “Matasa Madogara’’.

This was announced in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Dala Local Government, Alhaji Haruna Gunduwawa, in Kano on Wednesday.

The statement said the Chairman of the Dala local government council, Alhaji Ibrahim Ali, disclosed this while distributing working tools worth N36, 000 and N10, 000 cash to each of 431 GSM technicians in the area.

It said that Ali applauded the initiative, which he described as a giant stride towards poverty reduction among the teeming youths in the state.

He advised the youths to be committed and to live up to their responsibilities, in order to become productive in the society.

Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on the “Three Cities Housing Projects,’’ Auwalu Inuwa, charged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by remaining law-abiding and contributing to responsible governance in the state.
