Wife of governor donates relief materials worth ₦1m to IDPs in Ogbaru

Ebelechukwu Obiano, wife of governor of Anambra, on September 26 donated relief materials worth about ₦1M to displaced persons in Ogbaru Local Government Area.

The materials include bags of rice, beans, cartons of ton tomatoes, mattresses and beverages.

Obiano walked round the buildings where displaced persons were accommodated and said she was impressed at the level of hygiene in the rooms and surroundings.

Obiano, urged the camp managers to ensure proper feeding of the pregnant women and on time and to ensure that they were well fed.

She gave token gift to the cooks, medical officers and other workers at the holding centre.

The governor’s wife commended Ifeanyichukwu Awogu, the LGA chairman, and his team for their good work and prayed that floodwaters would recede soon so that the displaced could go back to their various homes.

A minute silence was observed for Benedicta Uzor, a nine-year-old girl, who died on Sept. 25, while trying to fetch water.

C.Y Agupugo, executive director, State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, thanked Mrs Obiano for her benevolence and prayed God to continue to bless her.

In another development, Ogbaru LG also took delivery of 50 bags of rice from the state Government on behalf of the displaced persons.
