A Non-Governmental Organisation, Women Connected By Purpose (WCBP), has urged women to be more resilient and creative to overcome the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The President of the group, Mrs Monisola Adebayo, made the plea in Ibadan on Friday in her message to commemorate the 2020 Workers’ Day.

Adebayo, a Human Resources Professional, said the peculiarity of the effects of COVID-19 pandemic had greatly affected women in all ramifications.

She said considering the roles women play in the society, they deserve to be encouraged.

“Women are nation builders, we are partners working to achieve great callings and purposes.

“On this 2020 Workers’ Day, it is no exception as it is a great year despite all challenges. A lot of women still continue to do great and outstanding things in their different spheres of influence.

“Women have been called to move into spaces they were not used to before now, to chart unfamiliar terrain so as to be able to continue to contribute to the development of their families, careers and the nation as a whole.

“A lot of changes have sprung up in taking on these several roles despite that the challenges are still there.

“I would like to encourage all women to continue to hold on, to continue to get a lot more creative as this is the time to think outside the box to ensure that the challenges facing us do not overcome us.

“And I trust that because of our resilient nature and most importantly the God that lives in us, we will overcome this time.

“Please keep your mind healthy, keep your spirit alive and continue to trust God even as we go through this year successfully in Jesus name, ” Adebayo said.

Also speaking, Mrs Ezinne Ibe, a member of WCBP and Director, Nexgen Energy and Allied Company, harped on the resilience of women inspite of their delicate nature.

According to her, the feminine nature is delicately woven to keep it all together no matter the challenges at hand.

“Though the weaker sex, women are gifted with tremendous ability to see beyond the obvious.

“In the midst of all that we see today; half pay, no pay, COVID-19, online lessons at home, increased expenses, and so on, we know that this is not all that there is to the matter.

“Our feet and hands will not grow weary, we draw on from the well within because this is not all that there is to it,” Ibe said.

While wishing women a happy Workers’ Day celebration, she enjoined them to keep their hands steady while navigating through the challenges of the present time occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)  reports that WCBP is a faith-based NGO that advocates women’s rights and provides platforms to empower them to be self-reliant. (NAN)
