World Hearing Day: AKTH to offer free ear care

THE Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), says its team of doctors from the Otorhinolaryngology Department will conduct free ear care in Rano Local Government Area of  Kano State.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mrs Hauwa Muhammed, the Assistant Director, Information of the hospital on Tuesday.

Muhammed said the exercise would commence on Wednesday at the General Hospital of the local government.

She stated that the free ear care would be provided as part of the hospital’s corporate social responsibility to mark the 2021 World Hearing Day.

The Head of the Otorhinolaryngology Department of the hospital, Dr Muhammad Ghazali stated that the exercise would include a health talk on ear care.

“There will also be hearing screening, consultation, ear dressing, ear syringing and counseling on best healthy ear care,’’ Ghazali stated.

The theme of the 2021 World Hearing Day is “Hearing Care For All’’.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the hospital will use the day to sensitize the public on the use of earpieces among the youth.

World Hearing Day is held on March 3 each year to sensitize people all over the world on ear care and prevention against hearing loss and deafness. (NAN)
