The African Network centre said it would partner with Yobe government to provide 7,000  employment opportunities, to boost the post insurgency rehabilitation process of the state.

Mr Shuaibu Ahmad, Director-General of the centre, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen on Wednesday in Damaturu.

He said the centre was in Yobe to assess the state of education, agriculture, youth empowerment, commerce, industry and tourism to see areas of collaboration and intervention for immediate response.

“Our mission is to assist the state in job creation and other areas of intervention, including agriculture, education and youth development, as well as the revitailisation of the state-owned fertiliser plant in Gujba.

Ahmad expressed satisfaction with the measures taken by the state government to reconstruct areas affected by the insurgency and rehabilitate the state generally.

“Honestly, we were very impressed with the development in the state, in spite of the security challenges.

“We were also impressed with what we saw at the state university, the Teaching hospital and the pragmatic measures put in place to revitalise education, agriculture and commerce among others,” he said.(NAN)
