Charles Oputa, the Convener of Our Mumu Don Do Movement, on Monday in Osogbo called on Nigerian youths to take up the responsibility of moving the country forward.
Oputa, also known as Charly Boy, made the call during a colloquium organised by a socio-political group, Youth Development Initiative and Virtues Unlimited Restorative Justice Initiative.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the colloquium had as theme: “ Credible Election and Sustainable Democracy: Osun Governorship Election in Perspective .’’
Charly Boy, who noted that the salvation of Nigeria was in the hands of exceptional youths, said they must be ready to “ fix Nigeria.’’
On the Sept. 22 governorship election in the state, he said the tribunal must ensure that justice was done in the petition submitted by the Peoples Democratic Party candidate.
Charly boy also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free and fair general elections in 2019.
Also speaking, Mr Dare Ariyo, the Convener of Coalition in Defence of Nigeria’s Democracy and Constitution, said INEC must ensure that the 2019 elections were credible and fair.
Ariyo, who noted that the elections would be keenly contested, said the will of the people must be allowed to prevail.
He, however, called on the people of the state, especially PDP members, to remain steadfast and have faith in the judiciary. (NAN)
