DERASOFT Consulting in partnership with The Whistler Communications, publisher of The Whistler Online, is set to empower youths with six online entrepreneurial, creative, and problem-solving skills needed in a digitally-focused era following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The organisers noted that the coronavirus lockdown has accelerated the shift towards digitally-focused careers, adding that it’s important that youths must start to understand the technology they will use in their work and daily lives.

According to a statement issued by the CEO of Derasoft, Young Ozogwu, the training, which has been dubbed #CodeCamp for Youths, will focus on equipping young people with belief, ability and necessary leadership skills to be ahead of the pack in the future economy.

Ozogwu said that imparting digital skills is much more than teaching specific coding languages, adding that logical thinking and meta-skills such as mind-mapping and goal-setting developed during digital education, prepare young people to take their place in society as knowledgeable individuals instead of passive consumers. “Building young people’s digital skills is not just a nice-to-have, it’s a need-to-have.

“There’s still a lot of uncertainties out there, but one thing is for sure: digital skills are critical to helping inspire and train the next generation of leaders, as well as to equip young people of today with the tools for a more tech-forward future.

“We believe passionately in the value of keeping our young people coding, for today, and the future,” the statement read in part.

Ozogwu added that the immersive training will feature; Fundamentals of IT Leadership, Working in a team, Goal setting, Empathy, Full, Stack Web development, Server setup, HTML, and CSS, PHP, AJAX, Bootstrap and MySQl.

The first in the series will commence on Monday, August 10th, 2020, and registration is limited for only 25 participants via registration at www.derasoft.com.ng/codecamp.
