Daniel Kadzai, the former National President, Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), has warned Christian youths against being used for electoral violence by politicians.

Kadzai gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Sunday in Abuja.

He said that the warning against electoral violence and other form of violence had become imperative, to foster peace and unity ahead of the 2019 general elections.

According to him, they should be grateful to God that they are still in their fathers’ land and have the opportunity to take part in the forthcoming polls.

“Anytime this corrupt politicians approach us for violence, before we say yes to their request let’s not forget our brothers and sisters in Cameroon, Taraba, Benue, Plateau states and the Northeast of Nigeria.

“I call upon you, my brothers and sisters in the Lord, to be more resilient in your opposition to violence throughout the forthcoming polls and thereafter,” he warned.

He said that he led a compassionate Christian professor from the USA to the internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Guma, Benue, they were shocked to see 36,000 IDPs, and over 16,000 were children under the age of 10.

The former YOWICAN president called on youths to intensify prayers for the country and other brethren like themselves in captivities and crises.

Kadzai said that the Christians in those areas should not be left alone to carry their cross, because no sufficient assistance was coming to those Christians, who were victims of violence and persecution.

He pleaded with the Federal Government for social justice, and to speak against the persecution, violent attacks and other matters affecting Christians.

The youth leader also called on the leadership of CAN to look into the best approach in solving some pressing issues affecting the unity of the association.

He described the issues as denomination, tribal or religious bias, dictatorship, greed and buy-over by politicians or unholy alliance with corrupt politicians.

He, however, urged the leadership of CAN to resolve those issues and strengthen the association to be able to defend the faith.

He also called on the Church to understand the magnitude of challenges faced by Christians in the country, so as to come up with realistic options toward lasting solutions.

Kazdi added that visiting the IDPs should be a continuous exercise for every Christian in the nation. (NAN)
