THE National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has expressed commitment to work closely with governments at all levels across the country to move the nation to a greater height.

The National President of NYCN, Mr. Solomon Adodo, said this while inaugurating the State Executives of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) on Wednesday in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NRM is a new political party registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission, to provide the country a facelift.

He said that the vision of the council was to partner with political parties to foster democratic growth and bring about sustainable dividends of democracy in the country.

Adodo said, “our vision of strong partnership with the political body in Nigeria is gradually blossoming and seeing the light of the day.

“When we have one goal to its development, economic growth, and job creation, you will discover that there will be no more walls among political parties.

“Such party will mean economic growth, wealth for all citizens, free education, quality health care, affordable housing of best standards, in line with international practices of cutting-edge nations.

“As a body, we have vowed to partner with governments, where they are doing well, we will commend them, where they are not doing so, we will advise, support and assist them.

“This does not topple the fact that we should not acknowledge where we are today and also the fact that this is not where we should be as a nation.”

He urged young people to always come together to harness their potentials and translate the same into productive ventures, no matter their challenges to promote youth development.

He commended the Federal Government for signing into law the Bill of  Not-Too-Young-to-Run, saying “we are preparing the Nigerian youths for tomorrow leadership, as active and intelligent citizens of the country.”

He further urged political parties not to always relegate young people, but create an enabling environment for them to contribute their quota towards tackling insecurity and reduce unemployment in the country.

In the same vein, the State Chairman of NRM, Mr. Chukwuka Odimbu, said although various political parties were registered to participate in elections, the movement would focus on youth development.

“As we all know that there were various political parties in the past, but as of today June 24, 2020, we just have about 17 or 18 political parties.

“By the grace of God, we will stand out to be the best in the country with or without the support of godfathers, with or without the support of political big-wigs.

“We believe that as youths of common pains and unity we can always make Nigeria great,” Odimbu said.

Also speaking, the Administrative Secretary of NRM, Mr. Dirisu Isah, said that the party would engage the youth to achieve the desired goal.

“We are here to inaugurate members of the executives; NRM is a political party for the younger generation that think of proper ways for moving the county forward,” Isah said.

High points of the event were the inauguration of the state executive, constitution and manifesto of NRM by Adodo. (NAN)
