KINGSLEY Ibeh, a Catholic priest has called on parents to inculcate the fear of God in the upbringing of their children, so that they can be assets to the family, the Church and society at large.

Ibeh made the call at SS John and Paul Catholic Church, Awka during a homily at the Eucharistic Celebration to mark the Holy Child Day Celebration.

The cleric urged parents to train their children in a rightful way. “teach your children the way they should follow, so that they cannot abandon it.’’

He said that some parents train their house helps, without imparting the same training in their children.

Ibeh expressed displeasure at the attitude of parents, who register their children for an examination at `Miracle Centres’’, saying that such unwholesome attitude would expose them to corruption.

Ibeh enjoined parents to teach their children that there was no shortcut to success.

The Catholic cleric said: “family is the cradle of National indiscipline, urging parents to catch their children young.’’

He bemoaned children who abandoned their parents at old age, stressing that such attitude should be nipped in the bud at early stages.

Cutting of cake, fashion parade and singing competition added glamour to the occasion.
