THE Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has disclosed that its operatives at Okada unit command of Efosa recently recovered a stolen vehicle along Benin Ore Expressway, after Ovia River in Edo State which was purportedly snatched at gunpoint along Edusogie street, off Etete road in Benin City.

The vehicle, a red Toyota Matrix with registration number EKP895AT, was earlier reported to be causing obstruction along the route which prompted the corps to send its field operatives with a recovery vehicle to the scene where no one was found anywhere close to attend to it.

Bisi Kazeem, head, Media Relations and Strategy of the Corps, revealed that the team that went to the scene of the obstruction reported that it was at this point they suspected there was something not right with the vehicle on that route.

He disclosed that during the first search that was conducted, a vehicle licence belonging to Uwalaka Nneka was found. However, when Uwalaka was contacted she informed that the vehicle had been sold to a dealer four years ago.

Subsequent searches that were conducted yielded another contact in the person of Ehinosen Okonofua who claimed ownership of the vehicle, and he equally gave details of how armed robbers dispossessed him of the vehicle.

Eventually, Okonofua went to the FRSC command in the company of Geoffrey Daniel, a Police inspector, who was the IPO of the case when the robbery was earlier reported at Ugbowo Divisional Police Station on May 1, 2017. It was also discovered that the car stereo and the vehicle battery were missing.

Kazeem disclosed that the vehicle was handed over to Okonofua after Boboye Oyeyemi, corps marshal of the FRSC, had authorised its release after satisfying of the ownership claim.
