11 priests ordained in Onitsha

VALERIAN Okeke, Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, Most Reverend  has ordained eleven new priests.

The ordination, which took place at Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha witnessed huge turnout of Catholic faithful.

The newly ordained priests are Rev. Ezimmuo Solomon from Umuoji, Rev. Ifeanyi Emmanuel from Ossomala, Rev. Nwabufo Emmanuel from Umunya and Rev. Nwafor Chukwuemeka from Ideani.

Others are Rev. Ogugua Christopher from Nzam, Rev. Okafor Mark Kingsley from Oraukwu and Rev. Onunkwo Emmanuel from Alor.

The rest are Rev. Okafor Stephen from Ojoto, Rev. Onuselogu John Paul from Nnokwa, Rev. Onwuchulum Francis from Neni and Rev. Ubabuike Jerome from Ihitenansa.

The Auxiliary Bishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Dennis Isizor and other priests of Onitsha Archdiocesan Presbyterian con-celebrated at the ordination, which attracted family and friends of the newly ordained to witness the occasion.

The Archbishop in a consecration prayer, asked God for out pouring of the Holy Spirit and its gifts to prosper the ministry to which the candidates were ordained.

He congratulated the newly ordained on their courage to pursue the things of heaven and urged them to remain steadfast in their love for God in spite of challenges they may face in their call to service.

The occasion featured the consecration of essential rite of Sacrament of Holy orders that entailed the Archbishop’s laying of hands on heads of the newly ordained.

Rev. Fr. Chukwuemeka Nwafor, one of the newly ordained congratulated his colleagues on the journey they had just embarked on, prayed that they would

be useful instruments in God’s hands.
