13 new members inducted at 6th Annual Conference of GOCOP

THIRTEEN new members of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, GOCOP, were on Thursday in Lagos sworn in by Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, SAN, at the 6th Annual Conference of the guild.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Maureen Chigbo, President of the Guild and publisher of Realnews Magazine, noted that the organization is made up of publishing experts, who are “mediapreneurs”, with not less than 10 years experience in the media industry.
She disclosed that about 38 media platforms applied for admission into the guild and that only 13 scaled through the screening process, which includes having at least two staff and identifiable office.
Welcoming the new inductees, Chigbo cautioned them to abide by the code of conduct and the constitution of the guild by avoiding the publication of fake and unverified news.
In the same vein, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, who was the keynote speaker at the event welcomed the new inductees and urged them as well as the entire members of the guild to cooperate with the electoral body to spread the news of free, fair and credible election.
The new inductees include Kemi Yesufu; publisher Frontline News, Sufuyan Ojeifo; publisher The Conclave, Tunde Abatan; publisher New Dawn, Musbau Rasak; publisher The Gazelle News, Akeem Lasisi; publisher Phenomenal.com.ng, Ifeanyi Ejiofor; publisher Alabingo.com, Haruna Mohammed Salisu; publisher WikkiTimes.
Others include Mustapha Ogunsakin; publisher Gavel Internatonal, Douglas Felix Ogbodo; publisher Energy Focus Report, Chuks Udo Okonta; publisher InspenOnline, Nkechi Naeche-Esezobor; publisher Business Today Online, Yemi Olowolabi; publisher presentng.com and Francis Ezem; publisher Business and Transport.
The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers now has a total of 94 members.
