2 brothers in court for allegedly stealing N1.2m tricycle

TWO brothers – Shehu Bubakar and Usman Abubakar, were on Wednesday brought before a Kaduna Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a tricycle valued at N1.2 million.

The duo, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on July 25 at Kano Road, on Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna.

“The accused persons conspired to steal one tricycle with registration number AKD 657 QF valued at N1.2 million property of one Ibrahim Haruna,” Leo said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under Sections 411 and 217 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.

Section 411 prescribes four years jail term if found guilty, while Section 217 prescribes six year jail term if found guilty.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.

Chief Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel granted the defendants N100,000 bail each with two sureties each in like sum.

He ordered that the sureties should provide to the court evidence of tax payment to the Kaduna State Government.

He adjourned the matter until Aug. 29, for hearing. (NAN)
