TWO herders – Musa Haruna, 25, and Saliu Sanusi, 27, on Friday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged unlawful grazing.

The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, were charged with unlawful grazing.

The prosecutor, Insp Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Sept. 30 at about 10:00a.m in Ado-Ekiti.

Adeniyi alleged that the defendants unlawfully grazed their cattle in a restricted land by government.

He said the offence contravened Section 2 and Punishable under Section 7 of the Prohibition of Cattle and Other Ruminants Grazing in Ekiti State Law, 2016.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Counsel to the defendants, Mrs Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to grant them bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety each in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Oct. 31 for hearing. (NAN)
