TWO friends, Mohammed Sa’abi and Bala Mohammed, were on Monday docked in a Gwagwalada Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaking into neighbour’s house and made away with two cell phones.

The Police charged Sa’abi, 18 and Mohammed, 19 both residents of Angwan Dodo, Gwagwalada, Abuja, on four counts for criminal conspiracy, house breaking, trespass and theft.

The Prosecution Counsel, Abdullahi Tanko, told the court that Yahaya Usman and Suleiman Sa’abi reported the matter at Gwagwalada Police Station on March 1.

Tanko alleged that the defendants criminally conspired and stole some items such as Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card, N16,000 cash, one small Tecno cell phone valued at N3,000, one Vivo cell phone valued at N12,000 and three pam sandals valued at N13,000 from the complainant’s room.

He said that the defendants absconded to an unknown destination.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 97, 349, 348 and 287 of the Penal Code.

According to Section 348, whoever commits criminal trespass shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year or with fine which may extend to N100 or with both.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mr Olatunji Oladunmoye, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 each with one surety each in like sum.

He said that the sureties must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the case until April 19 for hearing. (NAN)
