2 men in court for alleged theft iron rods worth N590,00

TWO men, Adewumi Eko, 29 and Amamalu Samuel, 31, were on Friday, arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing iron rods worth N590,000.

The defendants, whose addresses were not given, are being charged with stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that Eko and Samuel allegedly committed the offence about 10.a.m on Oct. 16 in Ado-Ekiti.

Adeniyi alleged that the defendants stole 99 pieces of 12mm iron rods valued at N590,000, belonging to a firm called, Gilbert Igweka Global Concepts Limited.

He said the offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Counsel to the defendants, Mr Olawumi Olowolafe, urged the court to admit his clients to bail, promising that they would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Franca Olaiya, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Nov. 10 for hearing.(NAN)
