2 men in court for allegedly preventing LASTMA officials from performing duties

TWO men on Wednesday appeared in a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly preventing some Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials from carrying out their duties.

The police charged  Riliwan Akanbi, 28 and Akeem Gudugba, 41, whose addresses with conspiracy, obstruction and threat to life.

The Police Prosecutor, Sgt Anthonia Osayande, told the court that the defendants and one other, at large, committed the offence on Sept.16 at Eric Moore Road, Surulere, Lagos.

She alleged that the defendants, blocked some LASTMA officials from carrying out their lawful duties.

Osayande alleged that the defendants, armed with cutlasses, also threatened to kill Adeyemo Olanrewaju, a LASTMA official.

The offence, she said, contravened the provisions of sections 51, 117 (1) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The defendants pleaded not guilty.

Chief Magistrate  Adewale Ojo admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N250,000 each with two sureties each in like sum. Ojo adjourned the case until Nov. 30 for mention. (NAN)
