2 remanded over alleged murder in Ibadan

AN Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Wednesday remanded two men, Niyi Olusola and John Adeyemo, in prison for allegedly causing the death of one Olasunkanmi Olajide.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr O.O Adisa, remanded the defendants in Agodi prison and ordered that the case file should be sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

Olusola, 40 and Adeyemo, 41, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.

Their pleas were not taken.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Salewa Hammed, told the court that the defendants committed the offences with some others still at large on Nov. 26, 2018, at about 4 a.m. at Olupoyi area of Ibadan.

Hammed said that the defendent inflicted severe machete cuts all over Olajide’s body, which  led to his death.

He said the offences contravened Section 320 of the Criminal Code of Oyo State, 2000

The case was until March 29 for mention.
