Two security guards, Zubairu Dankali and Raphael Oleje in a Wuse Zone 6 Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing 125 litres of diesel worth N29,353 from the office of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC)

The police charged Dankali and Oleje, both employees of Guards of Heroes Protection Security System, Abuja, with two counts of joint act and theft.

The  Prosecution Counsel, Noel Omeje, told the court that the matter was reported by the complainant, Musa Laaro of AEDC Headquarters, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, on July 11.

Omeje alleged that the defendants, guarding AEDC Technical office in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, on July 10, dishonestly siphoned 125 litres of diesel from a generator tank valued at N29,353.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendant, who allegedly admitted to the crime, said they sold the diesel to one Surajo, who is now at large.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Linda Chidama admitted the defendants  to bail in the sum of N100,000 each with one reasonable surety each in like sum.

Chidama ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the matter until Aug. 8 for hearing. (NAN)
