2 unemployed men for alleged criminal intimidation

TWO unemployed men were on Wednesday docked in a Makurdi Upper Area Court for allegedly intimidating a staff member of Dangote Coal Mine, Otukpa, Benue.

The police charged Mustapha Abdullahi and Abdul Papa with criminal intimidation.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Veronica Shaagee. told the court that the case was transferred from the Otukpa Division to State Criminal Investigation Department, Makurdi through letter No. AR: 3100/BNS/ OT/VOL.3/29 dated Nov, 16.

Shaagee said that on Nov. 15, Mr Faniyi Segun of Dangote Coal Mine, Otukpa, reported the case at Otukpa Police Station.

She said sometime in October 2022  Abdullahi and Papa threatened to deal with Segun because they were angry with him for not allowing them to steal the company diesel.

Shaagee said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 398 of Penal Code law of Benue.

She said investigation into the matter was ongoing.

They pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr Vershima Hwande, admitted the accused persons to bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with one surety each in the like sum.

Hwande further adjourned the case until Jan. 10 for further mention. (NAN)
