As Nigerians prepare for the general elections in 2019, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has assured Taraba voters that it would conduct free, fair and credible elections at all levels.

Alhaji Baba Yusuf, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, gave the assurance on Monday in Jalingo, at the opening of the state’s Election Monitoring and Support Centre (EMSC).

Yusuf said that the commission was committed to delivering an election that everyone would be proud of, declaring that the success of the exercise was not dependent on the electoral Act.

He promised to provide a level playing ground for all parties, saying that EMSC would facilitate electoral planning, monitoring, and implementation of election strategies.

“The centre will support the commission’s transition from reactive mode or crisis mode to a proactive mode in the election project,” he said.

He said that election officers trained at the centre would be tutored on modern innovations in the electoral system so as to add value to the system. (NAN)
