2019: NASD investors gain N1.21bn in first week

Investors in the NASD OTC Securities Exchange have gained N1.12bn in the first trading week in 2019. The Unlisted Security Index and market capitalisation had a positive movement to close the week as they each gained 2.2 per cent.

The USI closed at 749.47 points against 733.35 points last week, while the market capitalisation closed at N520.90bn, compared to the N509.69bn recorded last week.

However, at the end of the week, a total of 551,890 shares valued at N127.97m exchanged hands in 11 deals, which represents 99 per cent decline from the 75.35 million units valued at N503.58bn that exchanged hands in 16 deals in the previous week.

Only four out of the thirty-nine securities admitted to trade on the NASD OTC market were traded during the week.

Niger Delta Exploration and Production Plc led the week by volume and value.

Two gainers emerged at the end of trading during the week.

The Central Securities Clearing System Plc was the highest gainer, as its share price appreciated by 7.46 per cent to close at N13 per share.

FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc trailed with a 5.98 per cent gain as its share price closed at N169.63.

Niger Delta Exploration and Production Plc emerged the lone loser as its share price depreciated by 0.02 per cent to close at N312.

The top traded stocks by value were CSCS Plc (N137.664m), FrieslandCampina (N22.847m), NDEP (N13.729m), Afriland Properties Plc (N164,272) and UBN Property Company Plc (N10,350).

The top traded stocks by volume were CSCS Plc (11.306 million units), FrieslandCampina (141,281 units), Afriland Properties (73,010 units), NDEP (44,005 units) and UBN Property Company (6,900). – Punch
