THE Plateau chapter of the PDP on Wednesday inaugurated Local Government Coordinators for its “Ward2Ward” campaign teams ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The groups, according to Chief Damishi Sango, the party chairman, is tasked with mobilising prospective voters to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration to obtain voter’s cards.
Sango tasked the coordinators to enlighten the populace on the need to be politically conscious and exercise their right to determine their leaders.
He also advised the officials to sell PDP’s ideals to the electorate and mobilise the voters to see the party as a credible alternative to the ruling APC.
“The Ward2Ward Group is expected to educate the public to be very critical; it should also mobilise people to insist on quality service and accountability at all levels of governance,” he said.
Sango challenged Nigerians to assess leaders currently in government and decide if they had been effective or needed a replacement.
Represented by the State Secretary, Mr Emmanuel Tuang, Sango challenge the officials to get to work “immediately” so that the message would be carried to all corners of Plateau.
Also speaking, Chief Alexander Mwolwus, Chief of Staff to Plateau former Governor Joshua Dariye, who is the Patron of the group, charged members to study their mandate so as to effectively deliver as expected.
“Our mission appears easy, but very tough. We are expected to enlighten the electorate on what our party has to offer so as to help them to make a better choice in 2019.
“Our task is to tell the people to be critical in their judgment; we should also tell them to choose between what is available now and what is possible if they made a wise choice in future,” he said.
Mr Solomon Shitwa’an, the state coordinator of the group, who responded on behalf of the members, pledged to discharge the mandate satisfactorily. (NAN)
