2022/2023 NWFL Championship to hold in July

THE Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has announced that the second tier of its league, the NWFL Championship, will be held from July 7 to July 14, 2023.

In a statement by Modupe Shabi, the Chief Operating Officer of the NWFL, the tournament will be played simultaneously in Sagamu and Ikenne areas of Ogun state.

“The upcoming championship comes almost a month after the Premiership Super Six was held in Asaba as the NWFL seek to conclude the 2023 season calendar of the three tiers of the women’s league.

“The teams are expected to arrive on  July 7 for the Draws and Pre-Match Meetings,” she said.

Shabi noted that 12 registered clubs will play in this year’s championship while two teams with the highest points will be promoted to the NWFL Premiership and two with the lowest points, relegated to NWFL Nationwide League.

The match venues for the tournament are Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne and FC Ebiede Stadium in Sagamu.
