THE Black Stars of Ghana on Tuesday played a 1-1 draw with the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the second leg of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup play off.
The match played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, saw the Black Stars take the lead in the 10th minute of the first half through their captain, Thomas Partey, whose shot from outside the 18-yard box beat the Nigerian keeper, Francis Uzoho.
The Super Eagles got the equalizer in the 21st minute of the first half of the match through captain, William Troost-Ekong, who converted the penalty awarded to the team when the Super Eagles player Ademola Lookman was brought down within the 18-yard box of the Ghanaian half.
With the 1-1 score line, the Black Stars qualified ahead of the Super Eagles on the superior away goal rule since the first leg played last Friday in Kumasi, Ghana ended 0-0.
Although the Super Eagles played well and the statistics were more in their favour, but they failed to score the needed second goal and the Black Stars picked the ticket ahead of the Super Eagles.
