THE Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), an election observer group, has called for more commitment by stakeholders toward a more peaceful election in Borno.
The state Coordinator of the group, Mr Ibrahim Muhammad, made the appeal on Wednesday in Maiduguri during a rally ahead of Saturday’s Governorship and State Assembly election.
Muhammad lauded the peaceful manner the presidential election was conducted in most areas of the state and urged for more improvement in the March 18 polls.
He tasked all stakeholders, particularly the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and voters, to be more committed in the next election by improving in all areas identified that needed improvement.
Muhammad said TMG had already mobilised its members observing the election across the state who are involved in sensitising the electorate on important information and voting guides.
“We are out to increase public confidence in the election. We are calling on all citizens to come out enmasse to vote.
“Shun all forms of political thuggery and violence, say no to vote trading and intimidation,” Muhammad preached.
The highlight of the rally held at the Central Area of Maiduguri, was the sharing of pamphlets on voter education to passers-by. (NAN)
