2023: IGP meets police commissioners over election security

AHEAD of the 2023 elections, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, on Thursday, met with Commissioners of Police and heads of police formations, in Abuja, to strategise on election security.

The meeting at the Force Headquarters was also attended by Deputy Inspectors General of Police, Assistant Inspectors General of Police, among others.

The IGP had on Tuesday met with stakeholders and harped on intelligence gathering in tackling security challenges.

The IGP “engaged in tactical meetings and conferences with various stakeholders to build solid Standard Operating Procedures and strategic communication action plans geared towards having a seamless electoral process” for next year.

At the meeting, the IGP emphasised the need to enhance actionable intelligence gathering and sharing, coordinated operations, and adequate deployment of personnel and resources by all relevant security agencies and stakeholders in the election process.
