2023: Your role critical to successful polls – CP tasks corps members

THE Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, Mr Ahmed Magaji-Kontagora, has reminded corps members that their youthful agility was fundamental to successful conduct of the upcoming general elections.

Hajiya Hadiza Idris, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the corps, said this know in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

The PRO quoted the police boss as saying this while addressing the “2023 Batch A Stream 1 Corps Members” currently undergoing their Orientation Course at Dakingari Camp in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State during a visit.

Magaji-Kontagora said: “I am optimistic in your ability as youth corps members to play a crucial role in the electoral process and as security agency, we are determined to provide the necessary maximum security for you as you carry out your duties.

“Let me also  emphasise the important role that the youth play in the development of the state and the nation at large, hence the need for you to take advantage of youthful age to take your country to greater heights.”

The commissioner encouraged them to embrace the warmth reception and hospitality of Kebbi people by mingling freely and get acclimatised with the environment and its people to create positive impact on the society.

While admonishing the corps members to be security conscious and report any suspicious activities to security agencies, Magaji-Kontagora reiterated the commitment of the Police force to their safety and security during their stay in the state.

He encouraged them to remain steadfast in their efforts towards nation building, expressing optimism that they will leave Kebbi state with cherished memories and a sense of pride in their service.

Earlier in a meeting with the NYSC State Coordinator and principal camp officials, Mrs Okolo Agatha-Banki expressed appreciation to the police commissioner for the visit.

She described the visit as a rare privilege, soliciting for the command’s continuous support and cooperation to ensure the security and safety of corps members deployed to the state. (NAN)
