THE Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, Anambra State, has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission to redeem itself and restore citizens confidence, trust and hope in the electoral system by conducting free, fair, credible and generally acceptable election by the contestants, citizens and the international community .

The group, which made the remarks during their sensitization, mobilization and enlightenment of citizenry campaigns, stated that it is very unfortunate and despicable that majority of them believe that their votes never count and that voting to them is not necessary.

INEC, political parties, politicians, traditional, religious, trade unions and civil society organizations leaders should swing into action and educate their subjects and citizens to participate actively in the electoral process by voting always with their conscience and conviction in order to renew the mandate of good leaders and vote out corrupt, inept and unpatriotic selfish leaders.

The statement signed by Vincent Ezekwueme and Chidi Mbah also called on the people of Nnewi North and South and Ekwusigo, Orumba North and South Federal constituencies and other parts of the state where the rerun elections will hold to come out en mass and vote massively for the candidates of their choice, protect and defend their votes.

It urged parents and guardians to advise their children not to allow themselves to be used as thugs or ballot box snatchers.

“We must collectively play the game according to the rules so that the outcome will reflect the wishes and aspirations of the majority of the electorates,” the CLO said.
