2025: Gov. Radda presents N682.2bn budget for Katsina

GOV. Dikko Radda of Katsina State, on Monday presented a budget estimate of NN682.2 billion for 2025 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the budget estimate for the year stood at: N682,244,449,513.87.

Presenting the estimate before the lawmakers in Katsina, Radda said that the budget was tagged: “Building Your Future II”.

He said: “The total size of the budget’s Recurrent Expenditure is: N157.9 billion, representing 23.15 per cent and Capital

Expenditure of N524.2 billion, representing 76.85 per cent.”

The governor revealed that the budget, when compared with that of 2024, has an increase of N200.5 billion, representing 40 per cent increase.

Radda explained that the recurrent expenditure comprised N67.1 billion as personnel cost, other recurrent/overhead cost, stood at N90.8 billion.

He added that the capital expenditure of this year’s budget recorded an increase of N166 billion over that of 2024.

He further said that education was allocated N95.9 billion, agriculture, N81.8 billion, works, housing and transport, N9.6 billion, rural and social development, N58.7 billion.

Radda added that water resources got N53.8 billion, environment N49.8 billion, health, N43.8 billion, internal security, N18.9 billion, and N230.7 billion for other sectors.

Responding, the Speaker of the house, Alhaji Nasir Yahaya-Daura, assured people of the state that the house would carefully analyse the draft budget before approving it.

He said they would also conduct effective oversight, and monitor the implementation of the developmental projects outlined in the budget once it is approved.

“Our goal is to turn these proposals into tangible benefits for the people of Katsina State.

“We commit to working together with the executive arm to ensure timely passage and effective implementation of the budget,” he assured. (NAN)
