Sports
THE Kwara Sports Commission has urged sportsmen and women in the state to gear up for the arrival of the National Sports Festival’s Torch of Unity in Ilorin on Thursday.
The commission, therefore, urged them to assemble at it’s premises to receive and accompany the Torch to the Government House.
According to a statement by the Head of Media of the Commission, Mr Feruke Yusuf, on Tuesday in Ilorin, the symbol of unity is scheduled to arrive at around 3:00 p.m.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the idea behind the Torch of Unity going round the country is to allow participating states to feel the preparedness of the Festival which holds between Nov. 28 and Dec. 10.
The Torch of Unity, which will arrive in Kwara straight from Minna, will first touch ground at the Kwara State Sports Commission.
Feruke said in the statement that the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Malam Bola Mogaji, was expected to lead the team to the Government House where Gov AbdulRazaq would officially receive the Torch. (NAN)
