27-year-old docked for allegedly stealing crayfish

A 27-year-old man, Fatai Ahmed, was on Tuesday arraigned before
a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a full bag of crayfish valued at N250,000.
The Prosecutor, ASP Akpan Ikem told the court that Ahmed, of no fixed address, committed the offence on June 28, at about 4:00p.m, at Agbalata International Market in Badagry of Lagos.
Ikem added that the bag of crayfish belonged to one Nuratu Jamgbadi, and that the defendant was caught while carting away the item and was handed over to the Police for prosecution.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Criminal code, Law of Lagos, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him as the Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaiya, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adekomaiya ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with proof of evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case until Aug. 3, for hearing. (NAN)
