3 charged with signature forgery, get N5m bail

THREE men, Godwin Etim, Anthony Agada and Mark Aliu, aged 50, 54 and 38, respectively, on Tuesday appeared  before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged signature forgery.

The defendants were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and forgery.

They, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, ASP Rita Momah, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Dec. 13, 2021 at  Lagos State High Court Registry.

She alleged that the defendants forged the signature of one Mr Olufemi Emeya, a deponent to an affidavit.

He said that the alleged offences contravened Sections 365 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Miss Adeola Olatunbosun, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of five  million Naira with two sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Sept. 28 for mention. (NAN)
