THREE men were on Thursday brought before a Kado Grade 1 Area Court, for allegedly stealing the sum of N200,000 from a shop.

The defendants, Moses Adoi, Dominic Egul and Joel Joshua, all residents of Gishiri village, Abuja, are being tried on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Helen Ochai, told the court that the complainant, Nura Mohammed of same address reported the matter at the Mabushi Police Station on Aug. 23.

She said the defendants conspired amongst themselves on Aug. 22, went into the complainant’s shop and stole the N200,000.

The prosecutor stated that during police investigation, some of the complainant’s neighbours who were questioned said the defendants were not the ones that went into the shop.

Ochai said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The defendants pleaded not guilty and O. E. Anderson, counsel to Adoi and Egul, applied for bail for his clients in the most liberal terms.

Joshua Onipute, counsel to Joshua, in the same vein prayed the court to grant him bail and also promised that his client would not jump bail.

The judge, Mohammed Wakili, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety each in like sum.

The judge also adjourned the matter until Oct. 18 for hearing. (NAN)
