TWO Spanish journalists and their Irish colleague who were abducted by gunmen in eastern Burkina Faso on Monday have been found dead, official sources said in Burkina Faso and Spain on Tuesday.
Still missing is a Burkinabe national who was part of the team, which was gathering material for an anti-poaching documentary.
No group has claimed responsibility for the abduction. But Burkina Faso is a member of the G5 Sahel countries scarred by jihadist and terrorist insurrections and sporadic deadly attacks. The other G5 members are Mauritania, Mali Niger and Chad.
More than 4,000 people have been killed in multiple attacks in the region over the last one year.
