3 men arraigned for allegedly stealing, receiving stolen items

THREE men, Kabiru Jimon, Ayoade Usman and Danjuma Bala, were on Friday arraigned before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing and receiving stolen property valued at N794, 000.

The defendants, Jimon, 17; Usman,18; and Bala, 30, whose addresses were not given, are being charged with felony, stealing and receiving stolen items.

The prosecutor, ASP Clément Okuoimose, told the court that they committed the offences at about 8.00 p.m. on July 28, behind LA Primary School, Ipara, Ilogbo-Eremi, Badagry area of Lagos State.

Okuoimose said Jimon and Usman jumped through the fence and broke into the house of a resident, Ubaka Agbasiefo to commit the offences.

He said the duo stole a 55-inch Samsung plasma television valued at N380,000 and one Dell laptop computer valued M18,000.

“They also stole a pair of palm sandal valued at N8,000 and the sum of N78,000, all belonging toAgbasiefo,” he said.

The prosecutor further said Bala received the stolen plasma television from the first two defendants.

He said the offences contravened Sections 307, 287 and 328 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Fadahunsi Adefioye, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Adefioye, thereafter, adjourned the case until Oct. 25 for mention. (NAN)
