THREE men, on Tuesday, appeared at a Wuse Zone 6 Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for impersonating as staff of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The defendants, Offor Menam, Waziri Williams, and Victor Udoh, had pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, abduction and robbery.

The Chief Magistrate, Omolola Akindele, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of one million, each with two sureties, each in like sum.

Akindele also adjourned the case until Sept. 18 for hearing.

The prosecutor, Fidelis Ogbobe, had told the court that one Mohammed Abubakar of 17, Aguiyi Ironsi Str., Maitama, Abuja, reported the matter to the Inspector-General of Police on Nov. 30, 2017.

He said the complainant told the police that the defendants arrested him under the pretext of taking him to DSS office for questioning.

The prosecutor said the defendants took him to the Central Area under a bridge.

“They dispossessed him of three million naira cash and two phones,” he said.

Ogbobe said the offence contravened Sections 97, 273 and 298 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
