3 men in court for alleged theft of truck

THE Police on Wednesday arraigned three men, who allegedly stole a truck loaded with flat iron sheet worth N40 million, in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The police charged Isah Oseni, 35, Fatai Fasasi, 23, and Alao Ambali, 67, with two counts of conspiracy and stealing.
The trio, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, ASP. Benson Emuerhi told the court that the defendants committed the offense with others still at large on Dec. 15, 2020, at about 5.30 p.m. at the Abule-Egba area of Lagos.
Emuerhi alleged the defendants conspired and stole the truck fully loaded with flat iron sheet valued at N40 million.
“The truck and the goods in it are the property of the complainant, one Mr Alli Auwalu,” Emuerhi told the court.
He said the alleged offense violated sections 287 (5) (b) and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports state that stealing is punishable with seven years’ jail term while conspiracy attracts two years’ imprisonment for offenders.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. J.A. Adegun, admitted the defendants to N500,000 bail each with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until April 15 for trial. (NAN)
